On 31 March 2010, late YouTuber "0nyxheart" uploaded a video titled "How 2 Draw Sanic Hegehog", containing footage of the creation of the original Sanic illustration in Microsoft Paint accompanied by a distorted, higher-pitched version of the music for Green Hill Zone.

$Sanic became a symbol of something deeper: Not perfection, but momentum. Not logic, but movement. Not polish, but presence.
